Dendrites are natural, tree-like mineral patterns that form when mineral-rich fluids seep into cracks and surfaces of rocks. As the minerals crystallize, they create branching, fern-like shapes. They are most commonly composed of manganese or iron oxides, such as pyrolusite and psilomelane, rather than being actual fossils or plant remains.
